Master of International Business recently concluded with its Alumni Conclave dated 14th February, 2012 and invited its most prestigious Alumni at the podium to share their corporate journey with the students and guide them in their careers ahead. The conclave was a series of Guest Lectures concluded in 3 sessions
Session-1 - based on the theme "Banking and Financial Industry - What a mess we are in, Who brought us here and Where are we headed to!
Mr. Ankur Goyal an alumnus of batch 2005 with a banking experience of 7 years under his belt, interacted with the students at the Master of International Business and enlightened them on the concepts relating to the Banking and Economy of the country in general. He took up the subjects of the high interest rates, inflation and discussed how to keep a realistic approach while taking one’s financial decisions.
Session-2 - "Progressing the Leadership Journey"
Himal Tewari, Executive Director, Russel Reynolds (Alumnus batch 1998 ) and Rohit Jain, NCR Corps, Regional Sales Head (alumnus batch 1998), an expert in the sales sector discussed the leadership development program, a journey from an individual to a corporate leader. A leader is one who leads himself and who leads the others, excellent in execution he is the best strategic thinker. The competencies expected from a leader are :
a) Engage in self thinking
b) Focus on leveraging strengths
c) Embark a development journey
d) Constantly seek and act on feedback
Session3- "Has marketing just become selling? Have the principles of holistic approach exhausted?"
Arpan Gupta (alumnus batch 2004), explained the concepts of Marketing in today’s world. In addition to Philip Kotler’s definition of customer analysis, competitor analysis is also an equally essential component.
Your components of marketing include your product offering, adding value to it, strategising and maintaining customer relationship. He also discussed the various facets of Selling vs. Marketing under the subheads of Market sizing, Forecasting, Competitive analysis and Account mapping. The various methods of doing research for various types of data and the strategy of a successful research is to plan and increase efficiency, quality and being aggressive, without overspending. |
